ICELAND AIRWAVES REVEALS FULL IA CONFERENCE PROGRAMME FOR NOVEMBER 2023, FEATURING THE BIGGEST ARRAY OF INDUSTRY LEADERS TO DATE

SPEAKERS FROM NETFLIX, SPOTIFY, GOOGLE, YOUTUBE, EA, UNIVERSAL, WARNER, BILLBOARD, ROLLING STONE, PITCHFORK, ROSKILDE, ESNS, ICELAND’S MINISTER OF CULTURE AS WELL AS THE FIRST LADY OF ICELAND WITH MORE TO GATHER IN REYKJAVÍK, 2-3 NOVEMBER 2023

On Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd November, Iceland Airwaves annual conference programme is set to once again captivate audiences and inspire innovation as it welcomes thought leaders from the creative industries across Europe, the United States, and beyond. The complete lineup for this conference has been unveiled, and boasts the biggest array of industry leaders for an expanded programme in 2023.

The lineup features an impressive roster of speakers, including prominent figures such as Sarah McMullen, Manager of Music Creative & Production at Netflix, Emma Vikström, Editorial Lead at Spotify, and Nur Ozdamar, Artist & Label Development Lead at YouTube and Google. Additionally, the conference will host key industry players like Steve Schnurr, President at EA, Natasha Kilibarda, Vice President of Marketing at Universal Music Group, and the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Warner Records.

The event will also welcome esteemed figures from global media outlets, with notable journalists like Robert Levine from Billboard, Brian Hiatt from Rolling Stone, Jeremy D. Larson from Pitchfork, Kevin Cole from KEXP, Ariana Morgenstern from KCRW and former associate editor of Observer Music Monthly Luke Bainbridge. The IA Conference is set to kick off with the hottest topics of the day, across both Thursday and Friday, before the music starts at Iceland Airwaves festival. On its first day, The Outsiders: Attracting Global Audiences to the Edge of the Earth" will delve into the challenge of drawing international audiences to Iceland, a rising cultural powerhouse. Following this, "Iceland Music Film Phenomenon" will explore the unique trend of Icelandic composers collaborating with the cinematic realm, offering a glimpse into a distinctive artistic alliance. 

For those with inquisitive minds, "Where’s My Money: Why Invest in Music?" will provide insights into the motivations behind investing in music, ranging from altruism to savvy strategy.

The conference will not shy away from tackling pertinent industry issues, with "The Big Talk: Does the Live Industry Need to Stop Blaming Covid?" delving into the long-term impact of the pandemic on the live music scene.
