JFDR and Júníus Meyvant perform at NIVA ‘23 in Washington, D.C.

NIVA (National Independent Venue Association) is hosting NIVA ‘23 in Washington DC. NIVA is the leading conference for independent music and comedy venues, festivals and the promoter industry.

July 10 Iceland Music will be currating a concert at Union Stage for Business Iceland. The Icelandic bands playing are JFDR and Júníus Meyvant.

Over the past 12 years, JFDR has released 12 records, including as a member of Pascal Pinon & Samaris, collaborated with renowned artists Ólafur Arnalds and Damien Rice, scored the award-winning Icelandic film Backyard Village, and garnered fans across the world – including Björk, who cites JFDR as an inspiration.

“very haunting, electro-pop music, that’s very subtle, very inward looking” - NPR Music

“the kind of album that might give you space to reach your own small revelations” - Stereogum

Júníus Meyvant’s afflicted, concise, melodic and rich take on freaky folk pop has a highly familiar and soulful feel and a hint of attitude.  Júníus’ wide sound pallet is all embracing and made up with his sultry voice, sizzling guitars, pummeling rhythms topped with washes of horns, synths and mellotron. Drawing comparisons to Sam Cooke, Charles Bradley, The Rolling Stones and Devendra Banhart the thirty something musician has a few singles, one EP and one LP under his sleeve.
